Meet our speakers and chair
() is the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation. The first woman and first African to hold the position. She is an economist and international development expert with over 40 years of experience. She served as Nigeria’s first female and longest serving Finance Minister and was also the first female Foreign Minister.
is Thomas W. Lamont University Professor, and Professor of Economics and Philosophy, at Harvard University and was previously the Master of Trinity College, Cambridge. He is also Senior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. His research has ranged over social choice theory, economic theory, ethics and political philosophy and welfare economics. In 1998, he was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his work in welfare economics. Amartya is an Honorary Fellow of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳.
Nicholas Stern is IG Patel Chair of Economics and Government and the inaugural Chair of the Global School of Sustainability at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳. His forthcoming book A Growth Story for the 21st Century: building sustainable, resilient and equitable development will be published by ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Press in 2025.
Elizabeth Robinson () is Professor of Environmental Economics and Acting Dean of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s Global School of Sustainability. Elizabeth is an environmental economist working primarily on climate change and health, with a focus on food security and undernutrition, heat and worker rights, and the design of policies and institutions to reduce climate change emissions, protect the environment, and improve the livelihoods of resource-dependent communities.
