Research theme: Behavioural Science and AI: Understanding Interactions between Humans and Intelligent Systems
Theme leads: Dr Dario Krpan & Dr Milena Tsvetkova
Behavioural Lab Affiliates: Sia Shahrizad
This research theme investigates how interactions with intelligent systems - such as AI assistants, language models, and synthetic agents - shape human thinking, emotions, and behaviour. For example, it examines when and why people trust AI recommendations, how algorithmic input can bias human judgement, how AI influences collective and individual reasoning and decision accuracy, and other related themes. The work spans applications from healthcare to forecasting and social support, and aims to inform the ethical and effective integration of AI into society by understanding its implications for human cognition and behaviour.
