Even before arriving at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳, I was already looking forward to the Boat Party. The amazing night-time scenery of London, the city lights reflecting on the Thames River, and the excitement to meet new friends on board a real ship! In this blog, I want to cover the things everybody wishes they knew before boarding, so you can make the most of the Boat Party experience!

HOW TO DRESS

Yes, it took half an hour to decide whether to go with casual clothes or formal ones. Since I was in a hurry, I chose the happy medium with smart casual clothing, and it seems this was the right choice. People dressed nicely for the Boat Party, and I was surprised to see so many stylish outfits! Men adopted the smart casual attire, in shirts and trousers, while the women had opted for more formal dresses. So here is my advice: there is no dress code for the Boat Party, so don’t be afraid to wear casual clothes, but dare to pack your most refined clothes if you like to dress up – the party is a great opportunity to do so!

HOW TO GET THERE

The boat was waiting for us at the pier, and I took public transport to get there. The specific location will be made available once you have booked your tickets – these are released two weeks before the event takes place. The travel to the pier was pleasant, and I recommend two options: you can take public transport, which is nicely organised in London, or you can take public bikes and get there with your friends! I highly recommend the second option, as cycling through the city is a beautiful experience.

THE EVENT

As I arrived at the pier, I was pleased to see how well this event was organised. The boarding went smoothly as I enjoyed the view of Tower Bridge. Yes, we boarded right next to it!

Once on board, I really liked the boat. It was the perfect type for a boat party: it was large, with a beautiful bar, a dance floor and DJ, and a deck stretching from the two ends of the boat, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent view of the city.

The Boat Party is the greatest place to meet new friends and make connections, while catching up with classmates, something that can be hard to do with so much else going on at Summer School. To tell you the truth, I was a bit anxious about socialising. Thankfully, I had my brother and friends with me, and everyone I met was so happy to chat and get to know each other. The mood at the party was perfect whether you like chatting in groups, drinking refreshing drinks, or dancing. I did all three, and as the sun slowly descended towards the horizon, the colour of the sky began to shift to a soft orange, bathing the landscape in a golden glow. City lights started to shine, and the sight of vibrant London filled my view. This is my most important advice: make sure to leave time to take pictures! The Boat Party is the perfect place to capture memories of your ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ experience, so don’t be shy to ask people to take a picture! For a physical souvenir, a photobooth is waiting for you next to the dance floor, so between dances, take the time to pop in.

THE ENDING

The party was coming to an end, and it was a unique experience. It was inspiring to meet new people from different cultures and backgrounds, and was a great way to broaden my perspective.

We docked back at around 22:30, after cruising under Tower Bridge. If you have the chance to, go to ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and book tickets for the Boat Party. This is a memory you won’t forget!
